Starting with EDI-Applications in the late 1980s, interorganizational systems (IOS) have become a strategic factor for inter-firm networks. In IOS investment, however, decision makers face two specific evaluation problems: unclear benefit sharing amongst the partners and risk for opportunistic behavior. These uncertainties heavily diminish the contribution of traditional cost-benefit evaluations for supporting investment decisions, leaving many positive opportunities unrealized and many network partners exploited. In order to provide transparency in terms of benefit sharing and opportunism in collective investments, we qualitatively compare the economic organization of the airline network Star Alliances new Common IT Platform to the existing infrastructure, StarNet. The results show that StarNet was unfavourable for all leading partners while the net benefits realized by passive members were relatively high. In contrast, the new infrastructure's benefit distribution is much better balanced on a high level. From a management perspective, StarNet must hence be understood as a test case before stepping up to the\r\nmajor investment the Common Platform represents. For the future, the results stress the importance of\r\nallowing or even fostering free riding by passive members in early stages of the cooperation....
This paper describes a case study for teaching purposes which enables students of\r\nBusiness Informatics and Economics to jointly work on B2B processes from modeling to implementation and execution. The result shows three industries develop collaboratively as a whole, and the compatibility is higher and higher. But comparing with other developed provinces, the actual final product rate and the compatibility are lower. Aiming at these problems, some polices are suggested in the article....
Organisations are still structured according to the Industrial Age control model that restricts optimising the expertise of knowledge workers.\r\nThe general aim of the research was to explore the organisation design elements and competencies that contribute to optimising the expertise of knowledge workers in a shared services centre.\r\nCurrent organisational design methodologies do not emphasise optimising the expertise of knowledge workers. This research addresses the challenge of how an organisation design can improve the creation and availability of the expertise of knowledge workers.\r\nThe researcher followed a qualitative case study research design and collected data in six focus group sessions (N = 25).\r\nThe findings showed that the shared services centre (SSC) is not designed to enable its structure, culture and codifying system to optimise the expertise of knowledge workers. In addition, the SSC does not share the knowledge generated with other knowledge workers. Furthermore, it does not use the output of the knowledge workers to improve business processes.\r\nThe expertise of knowledge workers is the basis of competitive advantage. Therefore, managers should create an organisational design that is conducive to optimising knowledge work expertise.\r\nThis research highlights the important organisational design elements and supportive organisational structures for optimising the expertise of knowledge workers. The research also proposes a framework for optimising the expertise of knowledge workers and helping an organisation to achieve sustainable competitive advantage....

Quality is central to understanding provider motivations to join and remain within a social franchising network. Quality also appears as a key issue from the clients perspective, and may influence why a client chooses to use a franchised provider over another type of provider. The dynamic relationships between providers of social franchising clinics and clients who use these services have not been thoroughly investigated in the context of Myanmar, which has an established social franchising network. This study examines client motivations to use a Sun Quality Health network provider and provider motivations to join and remain in the Sun Quality Health network. Taken together, these two aims provide an\r\nopportunity to explore the symbiotic relationship between client satisfaction and provider incentives to increase the utilization of reproductive health care services.\r\nMethods and Findings: Results from a series of focus group discussions with clients of reproductive health services and franchised providers shows that women chose health services provided by franchised private sector general practitioners\r\nbecause of its perceived higher quality, associated with the availability of effective, affordable, drugs. A key finding of the\r\nstudy is associated with providers. Provider focus group discussions indicate that a principle determinate for joining and\r\nremaining in the Sun Quality Health Network was serving the poor....
